Making a Christmas tree for the sewing room.

Link to  http://www.cozylittlehouse.com/2014/12/tweak-it-tuesday-118.html

I love to decorate with trees. I needed a tree for my sewing room. Here are the steps I took to make a small tree for the room.I collected ribbons, ric-rac, a small tree, a vintage basket, buttons and miscellaneous sewing things. The ric rac and a couple of zippers I dipped in fabric stiffener, wrapped them around some saran wrap covered large cinnamon sticks I had on hand and let them dry, then cut to the length I wanted.

I picked some buttons and thread a floral wire through the holes in the buttons and wrapped the wire with floral tape.
By sitting the tree in the basket and arranging the branches around the basket handle it sits in the basket just right. The vintage tatting I bought at an antiques shop was perfect for the garland and the tape measure was just right for the bow on top.
Wooden spools, embroidery hoops, and pin cushions finished it off. This is just one of the many MANY trees I have. Small and large. I love Christmas trees. j

Poinsettia reblooming.

I had a couple of small poinsettias from Christmas 2013.This past spring I re potted them into a large pot and put them outside. I enjoyed them all summer. This fall I put the plant in the greenhouse. It must have been just the right conditions because the plants started turning and the flowers are blooming. The first picture has the plant off to the left of the wagon of coleus. It still had some red leaves. Then turned all green. The other pictures are of the plant now. Merry Christmas. j Link party at.http://www.creativecountrymom.blogspot.com/

Painters cloth.reuses.

New uses for painters cloth.I had made curtains for our home using painters cloth. I decided they had been up long enough. I washed, dryed and folded them thinking I would maybe put them up again. Well I didn't. One day I was in the mood to make a bear. Looking for osanburg fabric I spied the painters cloth. He turned out so cute.

I had bought an old buggy and that also got a painters cloth top.

With Christmas coming up I am looking for ways to display the little poinsettias I always buy. A while back our local Thiesens had the metal egg baskets on sale and I picked up 2. $4each. Today i cut a square of painters cloth the size of a dinner napkin. Added a serged edge Put the cloth in and added a $5 poinsettia. Turned out great. I can see this little lined basket used for a lot of different decorating ideas. Easter eggs, pots of pansy's, Geraniums or mums. What do you think? j

Hexi table topper

link    http://sarahdidit.blogspot.com/2015/02/help-for-hexie-aholics.html
I have been working on a table topper for a while. It has 179 hexes on the one side. I didn't count the ones on the back side. I saw a small quilt on

pinterest and thought it would be a neat table topper for our round table. At first I put the batting and back on as a circle but did not like it so I cut it all off and added hexes to the back then quilted it.

Much better.Have a great Thanksgiving .j

Our anniversary week was absolutely wonderful. Our children were all home together for the first time in about 10 years. Our celebration was also wonderful. So many friends and family to help us celebrate. It was a fantastic day. Thanks everyone. The kids did an amazing job decorating the library room. I have received roses, every year for 50 years, from Mr.T. This year I got 50 red and yellow roses. They are beautiful.

We do not have to worry about anyone being bored.
Our cake topper looks pretty good for being 50 years old. Thanks to everyone for a great day.j

Over the years I have done a lot of crafts. Sock dolls have been a favorite. The snowman is so easy to make. Using a man's tube sock fill with plastic pellets Tie with heavy string. Fill again, tie again. For the hat tie, then fold the top of the sock down tie again to hold in place. Cinnamon stick arms, glued on as are the buttons. Just thought you might want to make a new decoration. j

New table toppers

Do you save and dry flowers? I have for years. After a while they start to look tacky so out they go. Today when doing some cleaning I rinsed off the 2 bunches I have saved. They look pretty good for being as old as they are. The roses are from anniversary's.I have received roses for 49 years(50 years in a few days)

.

I made a couple of table toppers. I had picked up a jelly roll and got these 2 and have some of the roll left. The sq. one is good size that is a soup tureen sitting on it.
Those pesky pumpkins are showing up all over the place. Have a great week j.
