Shopping in my basement

For years I had my sewing craft rooms in the basement. We then had a flood in 2008. The rooms are now used for storage. Every thing is on shelves above a flood stage. I had a request for information on a doll I made and needed to go down and search for that information. I did not find it but I did find a few things I had forgotten I had. I found the yard sticks I want attached to the edge of my new cutting table. I also found a sweet dress and a doll purse.

The dress is one I bought somewhere 2nd hand. It had never had the closures put on. I pressed it and added snaps to the wrists and back. It is perfect for the china I recently gave a new body. She needs a broach or bead necklace. I will work on that soon.

I also found a doll purse I bought off e-bay. Don't even remember buying it. It was still in the shipping box, said it was from NY state.
I had a doll purse as a child. Not the same as this one. A good memory. Making salsa today. Lots of tomatoes off those 6 plants. Have a great week. j

Table toppers done. Picture of the moon

I tried again to get a good picture of the moon. This is better than the last time. The clouds and the nearly full moon were beautiful.

I made a few table toppers. i made the pumpkin from a woven napkin. It had to be lined but turned out cute. I found the leaves at Carol Ann's 2nd hand shop.It was perfect.

We have done quite a bit of canning and freezing garden produce. The tomato crop is very good again this year. Mr. T dug potatoes, carrots and picked the last of the green beans. There are more carrots, and beets to dig. We will not go hungry. Thanks to God for the abundant crops this year.
We traded in out motor home and bought a new travel trailer. A 2016 bullet. It is shown here. We have been doing some fall camping. Looking forward to more.

On this rainy day Mr. T has the right idea. There will be time to make salsa this afternoon. Hope you all have a good weekend. j

August already.

The tomatoes are producing about 25 every other day. Nice big tomatoes. Around 12 qts. frozen so far. It is a bit frustrating that I can not fine the qt boxes I have always used. I re use but the boxes seem to disappear. May be when I send food home with family or freeze something else in them. Time for an on line search. I try to buy locally but no luck finding them.

It is getting time to bring out my pumpkin decorating stuff.  My favorite time of year.

I like to have cut flowers in the house and the Zinnias are beautiful. I have a few glads but not as many as I thought I'd have.Over a few days the glads opened up. Makes the arrangement much better.

Not much sewing going on right now. I have 2 doll size quilts I need to finish up the binding. Hope everyone has a great week. j

A busy time

This time of year it gets busy with garden produce. We have canned 21 qts. of green beans and 7 pints of pickled green beans. I started on the tomatoes yesterday.
They will be producing more each day. 4 1/2 qts. in the freezer so far. The beets are doing well, we will freeze some of them also. the cucumbers are producing but not enough to do any pickles. We will just eat them.
My flowers are doing well this year too. The Solidago(goldenrod) got tall.Mr.T. cut it off this morning.  I have a beautiful bouquet on my table. I did not know it was in the aster family. I loved using it when I was, making arrangements, in the flower shop. This bouquet is 33 inches tall. The vase is 12 inches, tall 8 inch across the top to give you an idea of how large it is. It is beautiful. So much for today.Hope you have a good weekend. j
