Doors,Flowers and Ziva

 The guys got the doors in.

Last weekend no.1 DD brought me roses for no reason. Thanks Beck.They are beautiful.

Pond redo 2011

I have been asked to post pictures of the pond.The first picture is how it was.It was good but had no place to sit to watch the fish.Mr.T. didn't like the way I did the limestone and thought we needed the stacked blocks.

 Along the side of the house to the pond.We took out the berm and hauled away all the dirt from when I dug the pond.It is now the flat area you see where the heart is.Thw metal bench is now a perfect place to sit.

 Pedestal sink covered with hypertufa.The ball on top I made with 2 plastic bowls.Taped them together.Put a hole in the top poured in the tyfa.Poked a wooden dowel in and kept turning so it did not seize up.Ran the hose through the ball and the water trickles down over the ball

 Hypertufa spillway.The black pot is the bio filter.Plants clean the water. I took the pictures after a rain.Water was a bit cloudy.

Sad day

The sweet little house we owned when first married burned. It was our first home. We brought our first 2 babies here. We bought our first sofa and rocker to fit the living room.We remodeled the kitchen and bathroom.It was a special place for us. It had become a bit of an eye sore. The people who lived there like to save stuff in the yard. I am sorry for the people who,lived here.They lost everything. Home is a special place. I can not imagine the feeling when it is gone. Have a good weekend.

Ottumwa trip

We had Sydney for a visit and decided to go camping closer to where Cam lives so he could camp with us. Well it did not turn out so well.
Rain and heat are not fun when camping.
Thank goodness Bec took a couple of days off. The kids like her house better than the camper.She had wifi.
Ziva loves camping.No matter if it rains or not.A view from the RV.The canada geese were there in the mornings early.

 We got to see Grandson Mason. He had an accident the night we got there. We did not know until the next day.He had to have surgery to repair a cut tendon on his pointer finger. Cut it on a storm window. 8 Weeks in a cast. Not good. It was good to see him.It had been way to long. When grands grow up they get lives of there own and it is hard to get together. Hard when we don't get to see them.

 








Ziva just hanging out.She is big enough now to get on the RV sofa by herself.

Nothing beats a parade.

 From beginning to the end nothing beats a parade.From the flags and our veterans at the beginning.
 The grand marshal,Jennie Stevens. .At 92 she is still busy.

The 100th anniversary of the Alden fire department was held during Alden Days celebration. The parade featured many fire departments from surrounding communities. I like seeing the old fire trucks.

There was a bag piper this year. Never have seen a bag piper in person. The sound is amazing.
The kids got their share of candy.


Of course there were old cars,bands and the horses bringing up the rear. The rain held off until the parade was over. The fire works are not my favorite thing and they are not Ziva's either.Hope your week goes well.j

 

Checking in.

The last few weeks have been pretty uneventful.
We have done some gardening between rains. We have done some camping.While we were camping we watched as a very big crane moved 3 sections of a new shower house. It was interesting.I will share those pictures another time.

Cam was here for a week.Here he is planting a rose bush and riding his new scooter.
We found a project to do. Made a patio light for his mom.A jar, the flat sided marbles and silicone to glue the marbles on. In the background you can see the standing snowman.Well frosty was on his way to the garden shed but the hot weather took its tole.  He is no longer : > (
Went to pick him up to put him away and broke a big hole in the side. Sad end .He was around a lot of winters.

Cam was a happy camper. Caught 16 fish.This one was a bass.
 Not big but no one cares how big as long as you catch them!

Cam mowed for the first time.




The Kuipers and one Lewandoski were here for a weekend visit. Including Max

 I forget what this plant is.I planted a few of my big planters this year but not all.

 Finally the clematis is climbing and blooming. The watering cans get impatience each year.

.The fish are back in the pond.We had to do some ground work on the south end of the pond. I hope you all are having a great spring.Linking to Tootsie Time.
