New things

Here is our Abby with her new hair cut.All that black hair on my floors was more than I could stand.

 I have worked on some quilt table toppers. 

Fall decorations are out inside but only a lonely pumpkin outside.

Two more days and it will be time to take down halloween and put out thanksgiving. How can it be that this year is almost over?

I love the fresh fall flowers they have in the flower shop. a $5 treat for me.

Added a small shelf to display some of my little quilts.Our sweet Ziva usually shys away from having her picture taken. I caught her off guard.

The last 2 pictures I got the ideas for off pinterest. added orange lights to the old oil stove. The Christmas trees are made from painters cloth and part of an old feed sack. Fun and not a lot of work.Not time yet to display but it will be soon.

Life's busy.
After Tom's death I did not do much. We reached the one year September 6th 2017. Since then things have been moving along.Trying to get through all the stuff collected over 50 years. The kids came and moved some big pieces of furniture from one room to another. I am working on deep cleaning all. It is going to take a lot longer than it used to.
My sister Belinda and I facetime most days. She in her sewing room me in mine. We have made many small quilts and table runners/toppers.
One problem with that is not getting anything else done.
This is in the new to me tv room. Was the computer room.

 Working on taking all the stuff off the cupboards washing and deciding what to keep and what needs to go away. Lots of work. Climbing a ladder is not as easy as it once was. It does feel good when one room gets all done.  Take care j

scrappy quilts

Hi everyone. hope there are some still checking in. I am working in the yard/gardens each morning to try to get ahead of the weeds. it is not an easy task.
Still making little quilts and making hexies.
First picture is of an online mystery quilt.there will be more to it as soon as the next steps are posted.The next pictures are of scrappy table toppers, I did several for the bathroom.All out of my scraps.
The last is the hexie flag I finished. The back is finally done.

I am still working with my fabric scraps. Pinterest has so many different blocks I want to try. I have made more little quilts,mug rugs and table toppers/runners. Fun to do

Since Feb. my sister and I have been involved in an online mystery challenge. We receive a new  part of the block tomorrow. During the times we do not have something to do with the challenge I have been going through my scrap containers. I have soooooooo many scraps. It is fun to put them together and come up with a surprise. I don't have patterns just sit down at the machine and start sewing. I have stacks of already sewn half square triangles. Lots of 1 1/2 inch strips and squares. I have 3 or 4 more needing finished.

It has been a long time since I have posted. There have been drastic changes in my life. My husband of 52 years passed away on September 6th. I am, to say the least , lost without him.
I am trying to get back into life.
This morning I finished a quilt top I had started months ago.

I did 3 quilt tops using the same fabrics.I got charm packs for the first one and used the leftover fabrics for the other 2.

I started another quilt this past week. I found some fabric with cardinals.I wanted to fussy cut them for centers in blocks. It is working out  ok. I will make a block when the mood strikes. Each will be different.I want to wish everyone a Happy New year. j

My projects

While Justine worked on her things I did a bit of sewing. I have several flimsy's done.No pictures yet. I also did a few pincushions for an on line challenge. Kathleen Tracy's small quilt talk group,The naked dolly at the bottom is covered with the challenge quilt. The large pin cushion I found here.

Fun 4h projects

We worked and finished the 4H projects.This is  all over 11 different days and over 25 hours total time. It was a complicated doll for a 13 year old and she did fantastic. It was her first time doing a face and she did both well. I should have taken a side shot picture so you could see how it looks. I will add a picture of the doll before it was dressed. The pillow turned out good too. Good luck Justine. j
