Table runner

Thought I would share the 10 min table runner I put together today.
I had the center sewn,left over from another project.
Once I take the class for free motion quilting I will machine quilt it.

Scalloped potatoes and ham in the oven, choc. cake for dessert.
Stay warm wind chill here is -10.
we are blessed. we have heat and food.

new tools

Though I would share the new tools in the house.
The first is one purchased by Mr. T.
Now he says it is for me but actually it is his way to get to buy a new toy.
He tells me it weighs only 2#.Great! He tells me I can use it to put on siding! Whoooyyyyyy nellie I am not putting up siding! Does that tell you who this, new to this household, tool is really for.

There have been other tools in the past that were * mine* funny thing I saw them when they came into the house but never again.

 I did get a new tool for sewing.
I have heard that the ott lights are really good. They are!!!It is so much easier to see to do my hand work now.

They had them on sale at joanne fabrics last week.
I will have to be very careful it does not disappear.
Mr.T tried out the light.
His comment about needing one in the shop was a red flag for sure.Ya have to watch out for Mr. T when he smiles.

Little Quilt

I put together a little quilt from the new book. I shared the fabrics in the last blog entry.
what a fun project.

I am trying my hand at lap quilting this one. No hoop. It seems to be working and I am enjoying it tonight while I watch NCIS. Top 3 blocks quilted.
I lined it with flannel and the back is a green homespun.
I will share it again when I finish the quilting and binding.j

Feed sack fabric

I was looking for some things in my storage totes in the basement when I ran across some of my feed sack stash.
There is a small quilt in the newest book by Kathleen Tracy I want to make and the feed sack fabric will be perfect I think. Until I start I will not be sure.

I also liked the dress I made from feed sack for the black doll in my blog picture.Maybe something here will work for these 2.

Another face

As long as I had the paint palette I put a face on another unfinished doll. All these have their faces except the one in the back on the left.She needs a cloth over first.j

Drying arms,a new doll

It has been a long time between dolls.
Little quilts and red work seem to be taking my time.

I decided today was a good day to paint the arms for a doll in waiting. Poor thing has been very patient.
In a few days the arms should be dry and maybe she will get a new dress.

While I have the color palette I will paint another doll's face.I am blogging the progress over on my classic cloth dolls blog. Another week half over. Hard to believe time goes so fast.j

cute camel

I redid a block to make it right. I also drew the camel with the wrinkled knees.It turned out so cute.
The heart needs something in it not sure yet what.

This project has turned out to be a lot of fun.j

Blocks 1,2 3,4,and 5

I needed to pay closer attention. I put together 2 more blocks from the BOM through Painted Quilt.

While watching tv last night using my lite box I traced the red work onto the blank muslin in each block.
After very carefully tracing them all I discovered that block 4 is upside down. HOW did I do that?!!!

I am not going to redo.It will forever be upside down.
I may move the blocks around in the quilt now so not to have the 2 rows of 2 inch squares both at the  bottom.

Ok I looked at it and I am going to take it apart.The balance is just not there with it upside down.It is what they make seam rippers for.Right?

As you can see I took it apart and made it right.Not as hard as I thought it would be.

new sewing machine

Mr. T. was walking through the sewing room while i was running my old Kenmore machine.
He said "Boy it is sure noisy"."Yes it is" says I.Then he says "I think you need to look for a new machine."
He did not have to tell me twice. I found the right machine on Monday,at the local fabric store and bought it on Tuesday!!!!Local is best as far as I am concerned. Service is close and Dennis is good at what he does.
My Kenmore was over 25 years old. It has done a good job for me along with all the garage sale machines I have had through the years.

I still Love my pfaff 139 and my feather weight but the new machine is a dream.
Love the needle feature and the drop in bobbin.Along with lots of other things.
I put together a small quilt using the tube quilt directions from quiltingboard.com.
What a fun and easy way to do a quilt. 2 hours to cut and put the blocks together. Got it pinned so I could baste it.
Basting is done.Now to try the free motion feature on my new machine!!!Have a good weekend.stay warm.It will be bitter cold here in North central Iowa.

Car accident/Gift from a friend

We are blessed.
Our oldest daughter and youngest grandson were in a car accident Thursday night.She has a concussion and shoulder injury,grand son was not injured.Car is totaled,it could have been so much worse.Thanks be to God it was no worse.


I was so surprised and very pleased to receive this gift of a picture from my friend Judy.

She is so talented.the texture is hard to see in the picture.It is amazing.

I hope everyone has a Happy and Prosperous New year.j
